Psalm 9:1-4

Read Psalm 9:1-4

David is very thankful and joyful in this psalm. He says, “I am whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy”. That reminds me of the joy I feel during Christmas and Advent.  The traditions we practice during the Advent season are some of my favorites because they bring everyone together. I get to enjoy the feeling of Christmas while the excitement and anticipation builds up. Every day we get to read from the Jesus Storybook Bible and do the Jesse Tree stories. I get to spend time with my family, which I love to do, and everyone around me is happy. I really like the decorations (they are so pretty!), the weather, the special activities, everything! Don’t forget Christmas movies! Also, I love whenever we light the advent candles and sing Christmas songs in church. All of these things lead up to Christmas morning. On Christmas morning I feel excited, ready, surprised, and loved all at once. Maybe that’s what joy is…

And David has a reason to be joyful: “You took over and set everything right; when I needed you, you were there, taking charge.” God has saved the world with his son Jesus Christ. God will always take care of us, and protect us. He set everything right when he sent Jesus down to earth. That’s why we celebrate Christmas and join with David saying “I’m thanking you, God, from a full heart”.
