Psalm 29

In Psalm 29, David declares the majesty and power of God, specifically in relation to his role as Creator. The dominion of the Lord is over all things, above all things, beyond all things. He commands creation. Can you imagine a voice that demands the respect of lightning and thunder? A voice that shakes the desert? That breaks cedars to pieces? I don't know about you, but when I'm in the midst of a powerful thunderstorm, it has my full attention! While it can be easy to read these verses with a sense of fear-- I challenge you to read them, instead, through a lens of comfort. How comforting is it that our God commands creation? The same God that is for us--who calls us His own. The Psalm ends with a reminder that in His goodness, He uses His glory to bring us peace, not wrath: "The Lord gives strength to His people; The Lord blesses His people in peace." May you experience His peace today, Christ City.
