Psalm 103

Read Psalm 103

What a beautiful reminder of the character and mercies of our Lord. I couldn’t have said it better myself, David. Amongst the busyness of this season, it is important to pause and “forget not all his benefits”. Something I really needed to hear today as I am currently consumed by multiple lists of things to do, buy, prepare, clean, and remember (might be something to do with planning a one year old’s birthday party of special magnificence…oh, and also Christmas). While this season brings about many reasons to be happy and excited, the psalm to me speaks to everything that brings about true joy. Lasting joy, something we can cling to during the ups and downs of life.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

    so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;

as far as the east is from the west,

    so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

As a father shows compassion to his children,

    so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.

My prayer for you today, Christ City Church, is to pause and sit with this psalm. There is so much hope, peace, joy, and love to be found in these words. Remember we worship a God who knows us, who is merciful, and who in all things works for the good of those who love Him. Bless the Lord with all that is within you, bless His holy name!
