Psalm 37

Read Psalm 37.

Lord,

It is easy for me to read this chapter and assume I am standing in the position of David: dolling out wisdom, teaching the basics. But then I am struck that this is written to his fellow Israelites. People like me. Being *reminded*, not taught. Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to assume I'm above reproach. These reminders may be the basics but, people just like me are needing to be reminded of them. In fact, isn't this written to me Lord? Lord, You know our hearts. Let us be transformed from the inside out—becoming more than mere veneers of worldly success which You will expose in Your time. Teach us to delight in Your ways and pursue all that is good. To pursue the good instead of just fleeing the bad. Thank You for these reminders Lord. Root out any sign of waywardness in our hearts and establish Your ways.
Amen.
