Psalm 71

Read Psalm 71

17 O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds…

22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God;
I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.

Verse 17 of Psalm 71 has special meaning for me. The “God from my youth” has never left me and has never stopped teaching me — no matter how fast or far I ran. The God that I praised with song when I was 7 years old, is the same God that I see working in both my young girls. Knowing that He will forever lead them and teach them, just as He’s done with me since I was 7, brings me so much comfort and joy.

That joy grows as I watch my girls grow in their faith and understanding of the Lord. Fortunately for me, a part of that growth is gaining an interest in music with a bit more depth than Kidz Bop Kids. One of their favorite artists right now is Ellie Holcomb who has a catchy song “Sing” with the line “When God made the earth, He decided to sing and He wrote His song into everything.”

Our songs of worship sing of His love as he sings His song back to us with his teachings and wonderful deeds. I pray that we, Christ City,  join in with that song every hour of every day
