In the world I experience daily, the battle is often subdued, raging behind the scenes.

Sometimes we get caught up in what others are doing, or not doing, instead of concentrating on what we are supposed to be doing.

Psalm 145 is Christ City Church’s psalm. (Or perhaps should be.)

Are there areas in your life where you’re putting your hope in something else rather than the One who’s worth the anticipation?

Look back on your life and think about the things that Lord has brought you through. What has the Lord rescued you from?

A prayer in response to Psalm 115…

Psalm 66 stands out amongst the intimate prayers of David or even the declarations of praise to God.

Lord I pray that life’s circumstances, no matter what they are, help us remember that you delight in us, forever keep us, and have and will triumph over evil.     

Do you ever find yourself, lamenting your current situation while also choosing not to dwell on how your actions may have contributed to the situation?

Psalm 12 assures us that we can trust in God’s Word no matter our current circumstance because our Word arose on the third day.

Sometimes we forget that Jesus is a person.

God is at work, all day, every day. He is here, he is with us. He will not leave us. Psalm 74 reminds us that if we cannot see goodness and light in front of us right now, we must look back.

Do we come openly to the Lord with our struggles, because of our hope of salvation or do we close ourselves off to Him because what’s going on now is too hard and too harsh?

We can always go to the character of God as we seek Him and cry out to Him in  any circumstances, being grateful for His mercy and grace that new each morning and will sustain us as we seek Him.

Have you been grieved by the oppression in the world?  Have you been on the receiving end of that oppression?  Do you feel like God has hid Himself in a time of trouble?  It’s okay to be honest about feelings like that.  And in the same way David did, you can express them to the Lord.
