This year during the Lenten Season (Feb. 14th - Mar. 28th) we invite you to join in a new-to-us rhythm or two, as well as a couple of familiar ones!

MONDAY NIGHT PRAYER & ADORATION @ VHOP | Join us each Monday of Lent from 6-8 pm, for prayer at the Vickery House of Prayer.

WEEKLY HABITS | As our faith family builds in Lent into our traditions, we want to lean on ancient practices to help us stay connected to the heart of our Father in this special season. Below are three habits we are encouraging each other to hold to these forty or so days.

  • FASTING one day a week (Perhaps Wednesday?)

  • Praying the Psalms of Lent through LECTIO twice a week.

  • ABSTAINING from something that distracts for forty days.

The links below will take you to resources and guides to help you incorporate these habits into our rhythms this Lenten Season and beyond. If you have any questions or need help figuring out how best to enter or navigate through these, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Journey to the Cross: A 40 Day Lenten Devotional by Paul Tripp

A daily devotional which “invites us to set aside time from the busyness of our lives to focus on the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. Each of the short readings encourages us to abide in the abundant joy found in Christ as we encounter the Savior more fully and follow him more faithfully during this Lenten season."

Bread and Wine by Miscellaneous

Daily readings meant to satisfy a “growing hunger for meaningful and accessible devotions. Culled from the wealth of twenty centuries, the selections in Bread and Wine are ecumenical in scope, and represent the best of both classic and contemporary Christian writers.” A wide selection of authors from various traditions—too many to include here!

A Way Other Than Our Own: Devotions for Lent by Walter Brueggemann

“God has always called people out of their safe, walled cities into uncomfortable places, revealing paths they would never have chosen. Despite our culture of self-indulgence, we too are called to walk an alternative path--one of humility, justice, and peace. Walter Brueggemann's thought-provoking reflections for the season of Lent invite us to consider the challenging, beautiful life that comes with walking the way of grace.”

Word in the Wilderness: A Poem a Day for Lent and Easter by Malcom Guite

A poetic, imaginative, and gut-level devotion for the season of Lent: “For every day from Shrove Tuesday to Easter Day, the bestselling poet Malcolm Guite chooses a favorite poem from across the Christian spiritual and English literary traditions and offers incisive seasonal reflections on it.”

Living the Christian Year by Bobby Gross

A general introduction to ‘liturgical time: “Infuse your days with meaning. You are part of a larger Story. And the One who began the Story is at work today, in your life, in the midst of your meetings and bills and family activities that make the days rush by and blur together. In these pages Bobby Gross opens to you--and opens you to--the liturgical year, helping you inhabit God's Story every day.”
